Is this background remover really free?

Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. The AI model runs inside your browser using WebGPU or WebAssembly. Your photo never leaves your device — you can even switch off your connection after the page loads and it still works.
Why does the first image take longer?
On first use, your browser downloads the AI model (about 40–90 MB) once. It's then cached, so every following image processes in seconds without any download.
How do I turn the result into a Canva frame?
Click "Turn this photo into a Canva frame" after processing. It opens the Image to Frame app in Canva — upload the PNG you just downloaded and the app converts it into a frame that follows the photo's outline.
What image formats and sizes are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP. Very large photos are handled fine — the AI works on a 1024px version internally and applies the result back to your original resolution, so you keep full quality.
Why is my Canva frame a rectangle instead of my image's shape?
That happens when the source image still has a background. Remove the background first (with this tool), then use the transparent PNG in Image to Frame — the frame will follow the subject's real outline.
